Soft Boiled Garden Quail Eggs

Since the size of a quail egg can vary, this is not an exact science!  We suggest lowering gently into simmering water, bringing back to the boil and allowing to boil gently for approx one and a half minutes.  If you want to keep the centres soft for use later in a recipe, then plunge immediately into cold water and change the water after a few seconds for fresh cold water.  For immediate use, just plunge once to make them cool enough to handle.  Enlist the whole family for peeling duties if you want to be sure the yolks are still soft!

Hard Boiled Garden Quail Eggs

Place the eggs in cold water in a saucepan, bring to the boil and simmer for two minutes.  Drain and replace the water with cold to cool the eggs rapidly.

They are then ready to peel.

Quail eggs look so beautiful in their shells – why not serve them to your guests just as they are and pass on our egg peeling tips as you all enjoy them!
